We here at Patriarch are God of War headz, and for those who don’t know, Cecil Kim is the Lead Concept Artist at Sony behind this award winning video game series. He recently hit the Blue Canvas Issue 8 Launch where he created LIVE digital paintings, and he continues to blow minds with his surreal, intense creations spanning the world of music, gaming and film. Although the first two GOW’s were beautifully intense, Kim took the third release to a whole new level…Here are just a few images that capture the morbid yet majestic hellfire that is GOD OF WAR III…..

Art in the Streets @ MOCA

We hit the streets of Los Angeles this April and took a gander at the massive graffiti and street art collection, “Art in the Streets”, currently at The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA. Although a bit overwhelming, and in many ways riding a fine line between art and the exploitation of the urban struggle (Blu censored for hipsters wtf?), you can’t get away from the over all sincerity of the presentation and the simply beautiful and truly thought provoking pieces. However cluttered or forced it may seem, it was still great to experience classics dating back from the 70′s to now, as well as new interpretations from the world’s finest artists. Here are a few shots mingled with the visitors, since you really can’t have art without the viewers…enjoy. (ROA shown)

Street art masters The London Police embody pop art and commentary in a way that references everything from Ub Iwerks to Dalí, with a unique, righteous innocence that carefully draws you in – it’s a slow and euphoric acid trip, without the dirty come down. Such is fitting that they began their reign on the art world in Amsterdam in an attempt to “rejuvenate the visually disappointing streets of the drug capital of the world.” They recently premiered new works at the Opera Gallery in Paris in good company with artist including Jean Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, Ron english, Seen, Crash, Speedy Graphito, Daze, Dface, Mr. Brainwash, Logan Hicks, Lady pink, Buff monster, Kidzoom, Big foot, Parviz Roozbeh, Mohammad khodashenas, Mizer and Zmogk. Their street murals are infamous, with their iconic LADS always up in the mix, as shown in this Amsterdam wall…

Sad decline or comeback kids? Willoughby Windows Brooklyn

Hey people – what’s going on with Willoughby Windows v2.0? If you’ve happened to walk down this street, or you’re already in the know, then you’ve seen the collection of thought provoking and visually stunning street art that occupy the once thriving now deserted stores that continue to hover on this block…But a recent stroll revealed the slow decay of this beautiful outside installation, and it made us wonder – what’s going on? (C Damage – Check Cashing shown)

Will there be a v3.0 before the building finally gets knocked down? Or will the spring bring yet another wrecking crew and corner of gentrification to the hood…either way, it’s a joy to revisit these profound images every so often, but it breaks our hearts to think that these too have been abandoned – let’s cross our fingers for another version from the Ad Hoc Art pioneers, and in the mean time, get off your asses and SEE these windows before they disappear!

Daryll Peirce – Bagel Guys

People put time and effort into a blown out place, and now it seems the art itself has been forgotten…the street is still desolate and the windows could use a good cleaning as well as some visitors…

Ron English – Eyebrow Zone

The buildings on this street are actually quite beautiful – it’s sad to see the pictures from this window have fallen off and are cuddled on the floor, an eerie foreboding for the street itself…

As an attempt to revive this area at a time when the dragging economy is still looming, let’s hope this street gets a face-lift soon, if not with thriving new stores, then at least another injection of provocative splendor that makes for an unexpected and delightful walk down this lonely street…
